Eagle Creek Golf Club Selected As Host Site For Buick Scramble National
Finals In October
ORLANDO, FL - Eagle Creek Golf Club has been named a host course for
the 2005 Buick Scramble National Championships in Orlando October 13-16.
Eagle Creek, the highly acclaimed Ron Garl/Howard Swan design in
south Orlando will join six other courses in hosting the finals of
the world's largest amateur golf tournament.
"I know how thorough the Buick Scramble officials were in this
selection process, so I am extremely proud that Eagle Creek was chosen
as a Finals course," said General Manager Gary Piotrowski. "I
think this speaks volumes about not only the quality of our golf course,
but also the level of our customer service and food and beverage operations.
This is a true honor, and all of us at Eagle Creek are excited and
looking forward to hosting the national finals." Buick Scramble
officials were equally as excited to add Eagle Creek to the rotation.
With the addition of Eagle Creek and Mystic Dunes, the Buick
Scramble National Championships will take place on six of the premier
golf venues in Orlando, said Larry Peck, golf marketing manager
for Buick (the other courses are The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club at Grande
Lakes Resort, Orange County Nationals Crooked Cat and Panther
Lake Courses and Celebration Golf Club. Were sure everyone
will enjoy playing these great courses.
Tiger Woods is scheduled to serve as the honorary chairman of the
Buick Scramble for a fourth consecutive season. Woods will appear in
all tournament marketing and promotional materials for the 2005 Buick
Scramble, and is scheduled to appear at the national championships
on Oct. 16 to present the trophies to the winning teams.
Eagle Creek Golf Club opened to rave reviews last March. The facility
features the only-par-73 layout in Central Florida. It was rated four-stars
in a recent review by Travel & Leisure Golf Magazine, and was named
among the top 10 new Florida courses of the decade by the same publication.
Eagle Creek is located just minutes from Orlando International Airport,
and course officials made sure golfers can take full advantage of the
prime location.
Piotrowski and his staff are making it easy for travelers to schedule
their final round of their golf vacation at Eagle Creek by offering
first-class clubhouse facilities men's and women's locker-rooms
with showers and an outstanding restaurant with quick-service meals.
Eagle Creek will also arrange transportation to the airport following
golf.
"Visiting golfers need to know that Eagle Creek is a must-play'
on their trip anyway, because of the uniqueness of the experience,"said
Piotrowski. "But with our convenient location near the airport,
and the amenities we offer visiting golfers, we've made it an easy
decision for them. They simply can save the best until last, and we'll
send them home feeling refreshed with memories of a great golf experience."
The "save the best til last" slogan also plays into the
uniqueness of the design and its dramatic finishing hole. With five
par 5's, Eagle Creek plays to a par 73, the only course in Central
Florida to do so. Golfers generally favor par 5's, and none is more
enjoyable than the terrific finishing hole. The 483-yard par 5 offers
golfers a chance to finish in glory, reaching the green in two. But
the sloping putting surface is bordered in front and to the right by
water, requiring extreme accuracy on the approach.
