Eagle Creek Golf Club breaks ground on clubhouse
ORLANDO, FLORIDA (June 6, 2003) - Eagle Creek Golf Club held
a ground breaking ceremony for its new 14,000 square foot,
two level clubhouse in the new Eagle Creek community in south
Orlando, Florida. The project's developer, Emerson International,
Inc. was on hand along with the members of the club's management
staff, project team and representatives from Whiting Turner
Contracting Company, the general contractor.
The clubhouse features a pro shop, 120-seat restaurant with
private banquet areas and locker rooms for men and women.
The public, 18-hole PGA golf course and the clubhouse plan
to open on December 1, 2003.
Emerson's architect, John Youngman, R.A., in association with
Bock & Partners Architecture, designed the clubhouse in
a vintage New England manor style with a European flair.
Eagle Creek Golf Club, which features Central Florida's first
golf course and community Audubon Signature Course, is one
of the newest in Orlando. The 18-hole, 7,097-yard course was
designed by the renowned American design firm, Ron Garl Golf
Course Architect in collaboration with Howard Swan of Swan
Golf Designs Limited, a British golf architect, well known
in the United Kingdom and throughout Europe.
Key course features are five sets of tees, extensive bulkheads
around water hazards, over 90 white sand bunkers with waste
bunkers up to ½-acre, bunker designs reminiscent of
those found in Scotland and England, and numerous holes with
greens protected by water and sand bunkers.
Gary Piotrowski, formally the general manager at Celebration
Golf Club, has been brought on board to serve as Eagle Creek's
general manager. The superintendent is Buck Buckner, formally
with Isleworth Country Club.
The Eagle Creek Community, which surrounds Eagle Creek Golf
Club, is a 1,240-acre community located near Lake Nona just
east of Orlando International Airport. The project's developer,
Eagle Creek Development Corp., a subsidiary of Emerson International,
Inc., plans 2,950 residential units including single-family
homes, townhouses, golf villas and apartments, all within
walking distance of a park. According to Emerson International's
president, Joe Pasqualetti, 20 acres have been donated to
Orange County Public Schools for a community elementary school.
Additionally, Eagle Creek is slated for 200,000 square feet
of shops, restaurants and office space, a 150-room hotel,
a golf institute and recreational facilities such as pools,
parks, nature trails and conservation areas.
More than 600 home sites will be ready for sale in October
of 2003.
